The Last (Non) Picture Show
As a body of work this was very much a revisitation and extension of ideas and images that surfaced during my last year at art school and for the first few years of serious art-making. Ideas about motion, evolution and colour were originally realised on paper or on canvas in paint. This new series of works have expanded upon those elements to include work that is painted wood. And the name of the exhibit - a re-purposed appropriation of the 1971 'coming of age' movie titled The Last Picture Show - suited my idea that this would be my final solo exhibit. Why? Because such undertakings are hard work and somewhat daunting. I was feeling my age. The "(Non)" in the exhibition title was aknowledgement that no work could be considered to be a 'picture'. Each work only represents itself.
