Creativity has much to do with experience, observation and imagination, and if any one of those key elements is missing, it doesn’t work.

But first, my reason for including the image at the top of this page.
London's Hackney Archives holds a copy of the Clarnico sweet factory Specialties List (1906) that includes a photograph of the box-making department where foreman John Maycock my great grandfather (circled), is seen wearing a bow tie and standing near the back of the workshop. Finding this publication was a distinct bonus as, at the time, my work made reference to my ancestors' occupations and to the materials with which they worked: fabric, slate, wood, etc.
In the introduction to the Specialties List is this sentence:
"We think it probable that the conditions under which our sweets are made may be of interest to our friends and have embraced this opportunity to include some illustrations of our manufacturing departments".
Liking Clarnico's contextualization of process and product, I opted to follow their lead in the design of this website. So, with that in mind,
I think it possible that the conditions under which my work is made may be of interest so have included information about how and why each series of works developed, and where finished products were exhibited.
